SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
REST APIs, Interfaces, and Generative AI

General Description:

We are seeking a Software Developer (Early Mid-Level) who is excited about solving business challenges, working across the full development stack, and leveraging both traditional and emerging technologies. This role focuses on REST API development, interface design, and the application of generative AI to real-world problems in the energy efficiency and building performance space.

 

You'll join a small, agile team where your work will directly contribute to tools that support engineers and analysts delivering energy solutions to homes and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.

  • Develop and enhance user interfaces that interact with APIs and backend data.

  • Participate in agile development using Scrum methodology, delivering value through iterative sprints.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions.

  • Work with generative AI technologies (e.g., GPT, embedding models), including prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.

  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues; improve performance and reliability.

  • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code. Maintain security and data integrity standards in all development practices.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product functionality and user experience.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of professional software development experience (based on skills and project experience).

  • Proficiency in REST API design and development.

  • Experience with front-end development, ideally using JavaScript, React, or similar frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, including Scrum.

  • Familiarity with generative AI, prompt engineering, or AI model integration (e.g. OpenAI).

  • Ability to analyze and solve business problems through technology.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred/Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (especially Microsoft Azure).

  • Experience with modular ERP systems

  • Familiarity with ETL processes, data pipelines, or data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).

  • Background or interest in energy efficiency, housing, or sustainability initiatives.

  • Exposure to DevOps practices.
