Primary Role:

We are seeking a skilled licensed Electrical Engineer to join our team and help establish our in-house electrical engineering department. This is a unique opportunity to build this sector of our business from the ground up, shaping processes, standards, and a collaborative culture. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for various residential (Multi-family/mixed-use) projects, working closely with our internal mechanical and plumbing engineering disciplines, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Electrical Engineer would be a team member of our Engineering Services group and report to the Vice President – Technical Services.

​

This position is based at our corporate office in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.  Experience with a virtual work environment would be beneficial and working from an alternate location may be considered.

Principle Duties:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for residential buildings and their associated amenity / commercial spaces

  • Collaborate with Architects, Developers, and other external disciplines.

  • Coordinate with internal mechanical and plumbing teams to create integrated design solutions.

  • Perform electrical load and service calculations, as well as design and layout of power distribution systems, electrical devices, light fixtures, controls and equipment.

  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.

  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure project compliance with design and safety standards.

  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, schedule and budgets.

  • Mentor and guide junior engineering staff as needed.

  • Provide administration with information for billing purposes

  • Perform initial site investigations and observations of work by installing contractor(s).

 

Supplemental Information:

This is a full-time/non-exempt position based in our New Jersey office but with flexibility to accommodate the needs of the position and the applicant. Roughly 90% office work and 10% field work. Salary will be commensurate with experience and reviewed at least annually for performance and opportunity potential. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from ABET accredited institution

  • PE in related discipline

  • Minimum 8 years experience in electrical design, 3 years experience leading an electrical design team.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems found in buildings including single/three phase power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, grounding and life safety systems

  • Knowledge of codes and specifications for the design of electrical systems including National Electric Code, Life Safety and Energy Conservation Codes

  • Knowledge of technical/design software including short circuit coordination and arc flash studies, equipment sizing, underground feeder calculations and lighting calculations

  • Knowledge in building electrification techniques, including the design and optimization of electrical systems to enhance energy efficiency and integrate renewable energy sources.

  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management

  • Skilled at producing drawings and visual aids using Revit and AutoCAD

  • Skilled in performing code analysis including selection of equipment, wiring, etc. to meet code requirements and advanced knowledge of electrical codes

  •  

  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail

  • Ability to work successfully in a remote environment through effective communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace

  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements

  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)

  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines

  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70k - $90k per year
