Affordable Housing on U and V Streets in Washington, D.C.

January 20, 2018

Somerset Development Company and Jonathan Rose Companies are developing a new 96 unit affordable housing high rise in the 1400 block of U and V Streets, NW in Washington, D.C, called Portner Flats. The redevelopment of the formerly distressed 48-unit, HUD Section 8 “Portner Place Apartments” is aligned with the District’s focus on preserving and expanding affordable housing options in walkable, infill locations with access to mass-transit. Being developed in collaboration with the Portner Place Tenant Association, the redevelopment of the property will double the affordable units on the site. Portner Flats is financed through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program. The building was designed by Eric Colbert & Associates.
