This year, Conifer has substantially invested in the growth of its Downstate NY and Long Island development team. In March, Conifer welcomed Roger Pine on board as the Vice President of Development for the region, and just last month, Daniel Brass came on board as Senior Project Coordinator. These new hires are a key component of Conifer’s growth plans for its development teams.

With over 14 years’ experience in the development of new construction in New York City and Westchester, Mr. Pine brings his knowledge of building mid and high rise, mixed-use projects on urban in-fill sites, and the ability to navigate the local approvals process. His experience working with municipalities, housing agencies, local elected officials, and non-profits is instrumental in executing complex affordable housing developments.

Dan Brass has joined Conifer after spending four years at Settlement Housing Fund, Inc., a non-profit organization that develops affordable housing in New York City, where he was responsible for overseeing the predevelopment, financing, design and construction processes of numerous projects in development. Prior to his time at Settlement Housing Fund, Dan started his career in affordable housing development at the Arker Companies.

Conifer’s development teams currently operate in four states: New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Sam Leone, a seasoned affordable housing developer that joined the Conifer team in 2007, has been leading the multiregional development efforts since 2019, and was recently promoted to Executive Vice President of Development.
