As VP of Technical Services, Doug is responsible for the technical compliance of all engineering and technical consulting activities performed by MaGrann Associates. Since joining MaGrann Associates in 1998, he has been responsible for technical direction of contracts that have included Good Cents, Energy Thrift Home/Energy Efficient Home, BEST Homes, and ENERGY STAR Homes, as well as inspection and diagnostic services for local agencies, builders and homeowners, including My Green Home Plan by MaGrann™.
Doug holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, a Certified HERS Rater, an ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) certified residential trainer, and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
He has been certified by ACCA as an instructor for residential load calculation, duct design, and equipment selection (Manuals J, D & S) and is accredited by IGSHPA as a trainer. Doug possesses an extensive knowledge of residential building codes and construction and is particularly familiar with the specific technical challenges of the current and proposed ENERGY STAR Homes standards.Â
